If you have been following the ARK development cycle, you know that one of our first priorities has been building out a robust family of programming libraries that will allow developers from all different languages to interact with ARK blockchains. Due to the great contributions of our community, we have already seen implementations for Python and Java. Today, we would like to share with you the newest member of the ARK family, ARKNET.
The .NET API Client will allow interaction with the ARK blockchain and enables developers to create high performance applications in less time, on any platform. The inclusion of the .NET library will also allow us to cover additional languages like UNITY, F# and C#. This is another major step into building a complete ecosystem that can offer easy, deploy-able blockchain solutions, no matter your primary language.
ARKNET implements all of the most relevant ARK functionality to help developers more efficiently code .NET applications that are built upon the ARK platform. Additionally, it provides low level access to ARK to easily build Windows programs on top of it.
The ARKNET package should work with all .NET solutions using framework 4.5.2 and later, and yes, it is even available as a NuGet package.
Why is .NET Client API so cool and special?
The .NET motto is “Any developer, any app, any platform!” and as such this framework is a very popular platform in corporate settings. It is the perfect tool for startups and hobbyists who are just starting out with ARK and would like to jump right in. With it, you can create portable .NET code that functions across a variety of platforms such as Windows tablets, phones, desktops, servers, even iOS, and Android embedded devices.
Just like ARK, Microsoft has also recognized the sheer importance of open-source projects and has become an important player in the open source community.
Are you a Unity game developer?
Do you want to add new features to your existing games, attract and engage new players, and deliver a new motivating reward system? All of this is possible by adding the ARKNET client API to your unity game. Adding the ARKNET client API in Unity is as simple as dragging the ark-net.dll into your assets folder. Give it a shot and let us know what you think!
ARKNET is the most recent addition to our ever expanding family of libraries built for ARK. Is there a library you would like to see ported to ARK? Are you a developer who wants to work on a new and exciting implementation? Join our official Slack and let us know!
As always, thank you for being a part of the ARK community. We appreciate your support and couldn’t do this without you!
If you have any ARKNET related questions don’t hesitate to contact author Chris in our ARK Slack.
